NOTE FROM THE INTERIM YOUTH MINISTER

Autumn is here!!! I love autumn mostly because it's a season of change. The leaves turn and the weather starts to get cooler. It's the change that excites me most about fall. On the other hand change can be frightening. With fall we know what changes are coming, so we expect it and know how to prepare. It's when we don't know the outcome of change that it becomes scary.

As humans we are naturally frightened of change. We don't want to leave that comfortable groove where we know what is going to happen. As Christians we should not be afraid to leave that comfortable place and take the changes head on. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave or forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

I can't think of a group of people in history who had to accept change faithfully more than the Israelites. Like the Israelites we have to put our faith in God. I've heard people say, "God will never give you more than you can handle." Through the example of my family, other faithful believers who have been role models and my own wealth of personal experience, I have found that this statement is not completely true. In fact it needs an alteration..."God will never give you more than you can handle, as long as you look to Him to be your source of strength."

So, as changes come we should tackle them head on. We should follow faithfully, not fearing the outcome, but looking to the Lord for the strength when it's more than we can handle on our own because we know He is always with us.
