To the Saints of Rock Creek Baptist Church,

When I was a kid I couldn’t wait to be 13, then 16, then 18, and then 21. My Dad used to tell me to quit rushing my life. He said that the older you get the faster it goes by. Didn’t seem true when I was 10 but now that I am a bit older it sure seems to be happening. Where did 2017 go? 2018 is here and not slowing down for any of us!

My hope is that we at RCBC would “love the Lord our God with all our heart and our neighbors as ourselves” this year. I pray we grow in His truth and knowledge and the depths of His love. I pray that we might know Him and the power of His resurrection. I pray that at the end of 2018 we will have experienced God and His work in a new and mighty way. I pray that we might see God’s Holy Spirit work and folks come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and as a result they are drastically changed for His glory. I pray that when the year is over we might look back and proclaim: “To God be the Glory—Great Things He has done”.

What are you asking God to do in your life this new year? What are you asking God to do in the church’s life this year? What are you asking God to do in other’s lives this year? God, who worked in the New Testament is the same God who wants to work radically in us as individuals, families, church, and community today. Don’t expect anything less than radical change. Be willing to submit to Him. Be willing to be changed. Be willing to praise Him for what He does and who He is.
